For as slow as August was, September has felt like a whirlwind. Work has picked up, the weather has cooled down, and life seems to be flying by. It’s officially fall – and I finally feel ready for it.
Fall has always been my favorite season. Autumn means Halloween, my birthday, pumpkin flavored everything, and a holiday dedicated to eating mostly carbs (aka Thanksgiving). And now that we live in Amsterdam, fall also means the leaves are about to change. I think autumn might be the most beautiful time in Amsterdam, and I can’t wait to experience it again this year.
September was a month of travel, spending time with friends, and getting back into some cozy habits I missed. I hope October is just memorable!

What I’m doing: eating Italian food
I just got back from a weekend trip to Italy, where I was on a quest for the perfect pasta (I found it at this quaint restaurant on the edge of Como). Now that I’m back in Amsterdam, I’ve been trying out some delicious Italian spots. My new favorite is Ceppi’s – I’ll definitely be adding it to my list of the best terrace restaurants.
What I’m looking forward to: seeing friends & family
We were meant to host visitors from the States in Amsterdam, but because of the ever changing Dutch travel requirements we are actually meeting them in Portugal. It’s been years since we’ve seen them in person, and I can’t wait!
We also just booked our flights back to the US for Thanksgiving! Although it’s a shorter trip and we won’t be able to see everyone this time, we’re still looking forward to spending quality time with some of our loved ones.
What I’m using: new evening products
Changing up skincare routines for cold weather is crucial, and I’m already looking for moisturizing products for winter. I recently started using this eye cream (EU link), which came highly recommended by sister-in-law. It’s super creamy and does a great job hydrating overnight.
After a few years of using Laneige (EU link), I also started using a new overnight lip mask (EU link) that I love so far. It has a chocolate mint flavor and can also be used in the daytime as a heavy balm.
What I’m reading: these best sellers
Since I’ve been traveling a lot lately, I’ve had tons of time on planes. I love starting a new book on each trip –most recently I read How to Stop Time on my trip to Antibes. The ending was much more satisfying than the author’s other best seller, The Midnight Library, and it’s one of my top reads this year.
I also just kicked off a book club with my best friends from high school. We’re reading Malibu Rising – I’m about halfway through and really like it so far. For anyone who is from California or has read The 7 Husbands of Evelyn Hugo (I also highly recommend!), you’ll definitely enjoy it.
