#frenchgirlstyle, #theparisianchique, #lestyleàlafrançaise… Instagram has become a sea of French inspired hashtags, and it’s for good reason. Every season I find myself looking to French brands & fashion bloggers for inspiration, and this fall was no exception. Parisians have a way of looking effortlessly chic and sophisticated, even in bulky cold-weather wear. Here are the key pieces that you need in your wardrobe to emulate those chic Parisian outfits this fall & winter.

Bodysuits
It’s hard to get on the bodysuit bandwagon, since they can be annoying at first. But bodysuits are one of the most versatile and chic pieces you could have in your wardrobe. A bodysuit will work with jeans for a casual vibe, or can be dressier with menswear slacks or a satin skirt. And best of all, they fit beuatifully and stay tucked in! I prefer long sleeves for fall & winter, in jewel tones that can pair with your neutral pieces.
A long trench
A long trench is essential, especially with the fall rain we get in Europe. Burberry is the classic (this is my favorite), but there are a ton of affordable options out there that are high quality.
Over-the-knee suede boots
Over-the-knee boots are essential – they are the key to transitional styling. You can easily make a short summer dress feel more like fall or winter by adding boots. I’m petite (and my husband is a full foot taller than me), so I prefer a taller heel. However, a flat or low-heeled boot is much more practical, especially in Europe where most of our streets are cobblestone.
Neutral knits
A thick knit, well made sweater in a neutral color is another great staple that works across seasons. Go for a loose shape, in a neckline that flatters you. Low backs or turtlenecks are two of my favorite styles.
A silk scarf
A silk scarf is the piece that will set your outfit apart, and give it that truly French feel. I wear mine tied on a bag or in my hair, but they’re also beautiful worn traditionally tied around your neck & shoulders.
