There are a ton of lists out there of Black-owned fashion brands. But there are two problems most of those lists have in common: the brands aren’t always affordable, and many of them don’t ship worldwide. My goal with this list was to curate something that was unique, and addressed both of those issues. These are not advertisements, and I’m not being paid for this particular post. These are simply some affordable Black-owned fashion brands in Europe that I have discovered & personally love.
Having recently relocated to Europe, I’ve focused on brands based in the EU because I’ve encountered many companies that don’t ship to the Netherlands (or don’t cover duties & taxes) – but luckily, these brands all ship worldwide! And if you’re looking for some other unique European finds, check out my favorite sustainable French fashion brands.
Fashion may seem like the last thing we should care about in times like these. But the choices you make with your money can have a positive (and long term) impact. if you’re unable to purchase something right now, continuing the conversation about a brand on social media and sharing curated lists like this one are great ways to show support.
These brands are gorgeous, unique, and best of all – affordable.
And a bonus… a lot of them are sustainable too.
Mayamiko (based in UK)
This brand is honestly amazing. They’re a triple threat – affordable, sustainable, and socially responsible. Mayamiko buys from local fabric markets in Malawi, makes everything on demand in solar powered workshops, and partners with other sustainable brands. Currently there are some cute cotton face masks in stock, and for every mask you purchase they donate one to their community.
They have a lot of beautiful prints, as well as simple linen and silk pieces. Unfortunately they don’t carry much in my size, but I just bought this gorgeous Italian silk scarf top (currently sold out). I also have a crush on this summery orange crop top, and this oatmeal linen jumpsuit.
Escapade (based in Spain)
Escapade is a leather brand, and everything is designed and handmade in Spain. They use earthy colors that are easy to pair with any outfit, in shapes that are perfect for travel. I love this straw bucket bag but they also have this chic mustard colored weekender for short trips. It was founded by a gorgeous couple that loves to travel, and shipping is free to the US and Europe over 199€.
Sika (based in the UK)
Sika has a line of jewelry, but they caught my eye because of their bold prints and whimsical details. The brand is based in London, but the items are handmade in Ghana with fabrics selected from the local markets. I’m a sucker for a sweetheart top (seriously the most flattering neckline) so I love this crop top & skirt set, and the bright contrast & oversized buttons on this skirt are beautiful.
Daily Paper (based in NL)
It wouldn’t be a post from Amsterdam about affordable Black-owned fashion without including Daily Paper. They are a huge staple here in the Netherlands and ship worldwide. Their basic tees are super popular, but I like their activewear and this denim skirt and jacket combo.
Brothers & Sisters (based in France)
This brand has some really pretty hair accessories. I just bought this dotted bow scrunchie, but I love this green satin scrunchie and their velvet twist headbands. They ship internationally, but just be aware of taxes & duties if you’re ordering from outside of the EU.
AAKS (based in the UK)
This brand is also based in London with all of the products made by hand in Ghana. They have FREE worldwide shipping (check for customs and taxes). The bags they design are unique shapes in gorgeous, vivid colors – all perfect for summer. The founder is involved in every step of the design & production process, and she uses ecologically harvested materials from local farmers. I’m obsessed with this classic, simple shopper, this unique cross body bucket bag, and this would make a gorgeous vacation bag.
Libaya (based in NL)
Libaya is another chic brand based in the Netherlands, but the items are produced in Africa and they ship worldwide. Their items feature lots of feminine ruffles and off the shoulder details, like this polka dot dress and the top below.
Mie (based in Nigeria)
Ok, so this one is not based in Europe. But it’s one of my favorites among the brands I discovered thanks to a friend & fellow blogger. All of their items are beautiful, and they ship worldwide. But be careful if ordering from the EU, because they don’t cover duties & taxes (although their prices are really reasonable!). I’m patiently waiting for this blue & white crop top to be back in stock, and I love this wrap top.
I also discovered plenty of amazing brands in the US (LOVE the bikinis from Lem Lem) but will save those for another post!
I would love to hear from you – what are some of your favorite Black-owned brands?
