If your style is bold: bright colors
Bright colors are a big trend with summer fashion in general, and swimwear is no exception. Think neon green, bubblegum pink, and bright orange. If you’re a bikini fan, try mixing and matching colors or pairing a bright bottom with a neutral top.
If your style is trendy: wraps & cutouts
String bikinis with wraps are big this year – although they may give you some weird tanlines. You can also get the same effect (but more coverage) with cutouts. These are best in solid colors, to avoid being too over the top.
If your style is sexy: high cuts
If you want add an edge for summer, go for high cuts. Whether you like your bottoms tiny or with a high waist, the 90’s high leg style is back. It’s actually quite flattering because it lengthens your legs, but if you don’t have a long torso I recommend brights or neutrals rather than dark colors.
If your style is sporty: textured fabrics
70’s prints are definitely still big for summer, but for swimwear I recommend going with a fun fabric rather than a print. Textured or metallic fabrics are big this year, and even terry cloth & velvet are making a comeback if you’re feeling adventurous.
If your style is classic: a white one piece
Last year I included a black plunge one piece in my swimsuit guide, which is absolutely still a staple. But this year if you’re looking for something fresh, I recommend picking up a white one piece. I just purchased this one, which is chic but also afforable.
