There’s something effortlessly elegant about a European summer on the French Riviera—that blend of coastal glamour and casual ease that brings to mind Grace Kelly, Jane Birkin, and Audrey Hepburn. I’ve explored every corner of the SoF, from the bustling streets of Nice to the lavender fields of Provence and the charming coastal town of Antibes. As I prep my packing list for our next trip this August, I’ve curated the ultimate 2025 style guide: elevated staples, breathable silhouettes, and a few playful pops of color. Whether you’re headed to the Côte d’Azur or simply dreaming of rosé by the sea, these looks are sophisticated, wearable, and timelessly Riviera-ready. Sheer linen co-ords
Lightweight linen sets are still reigning supreme, but 2025’s twist is semi-sheer textures that feel floaty and sensual while keeping you cool. Linen will always be a fantastic choice for summer travel, so keep the colors neutral and the cuts timeless, like a pair of beige wide leg pants.
Crochet everything
From cover-ups to maxi dresses to bags, crochet is big again—but with chunkier knits and unexpected color combos. It’s perfect for layering over swimsuits or wearing to seaside dinners.
Neutral espadrilles
Since there is a lot of walking on older cobblestone streets, comfy shoes are essential. I recommend a neutral pair – I always pack these wedge Soludos. These Steve Maddens are a good afforable sandal version, and these from Sezane would go with everything.

White midi dresses
The riviera can get very hot during the day, but cool down at night. Midi dresses are the perfect blend of form & function in an updated silhouette, and a crisp white is the perfect contrast against those beautiful blue waters. I have both casual daytime options and ideas for evening below.
Wide-leg pants
I’m bringing a blue linen pair that I got in Positano, but tan or white are also good choices. I like adding a bold stripe for pants and a high waist. Choose materials that will hang well, like a casual linen blend or a satin if you want to dress up for dinner.
A raffia bag
A raffia bag is a must. 2025 sees a shift toward slouchy shapes and bucket bags with structured bases and leather trims. They give off beachy elegance while still being roomy enough for sunglasses, sunscreen, and your phone. I’ve included affordable options and designer options below.
A black & white bikini
Most days you’ll (hopefully) be wearing a swimsuit, and I love a classic black & white bikini. It gives old money vibes, and looks great against the blue Mediterranean water. One of those versatile summer items that everyone should own, and something that shows up on my summer style posts every year. I’ve found a few awesome affordable & high-end options below.
Pearl & shell jewelry with a twist
I always pack timeless, minimal gold pieces that I can layer for vacations. But a new item I’m packing for 2025 is modern pearl & shell jewelry. Mixing natural elements with metals in bold, artistic ways is in style this summer. I’ve included recs for both below.
Oversized straw visors
A stylish update to the classic beach hat, straw visors are making waves. They give off 90s resort vibes and are more packable than wide-brim hats.
Asymmetric swimwear
One-shoulder and cut-out swimsuits continue into 2025, offering structure, elegance, and just the right amount of edge for beach days and boat parties. I also love a black plunge one-piece – they’re perfect to wear in the SoF if you want to feel chic. Black is a flattering color for everyone, and it will fit in well at the upscale beach clubs or on a boat.
A satin slip skirt
A slip skirt is perfect for warmer evenings, and can be dressed up with a blouse or dressed down with a white t-shirt. A dusty blue will coordinate well, but you can also go bolder with a neutral animal print.
Coral red lipstick
YSL Rouge Couture in Le Orange (EU link) is my absolute favorite lipstick. Le Orange is a coral red shade that works everywhere from Singapore to Greece – mine has been around the world with me. It’s a splurge, but well worth it – the formula is really creamy and easy to apply. It lasts ages and it works perfectly with blue & white stripes.
A classic white jumpsuit
I got my low back jumpsuit ages ago from Revolve, but I like this one which incorporates the 90’s trend. I also found several long sleeve plunge versions below, which are perfect when the weather turns cooler in the evenings.
Sunscreen
And lastly… sunburns are never in style, so remember to pack an excellent sunscreen. I love French beauty brands, and La Roche-Posay also makes great body sunscreens. For my face I try to wear SPF 50 if I’m at the beach, and SPF 30 daily. Here are my favorite facial sunscreens.
- SPF 30 or 40 Goop Unseen Sunscreen (EU link) – great under makeup as a primer
- SPF 50 La Roche-Posay mineral sunscreen – safe to wear over your eyes, so it’s perfect for the beach
- SPF 50 Skinceuticals tinted suncreen – ideal if you want a tinted version
- SPF 30 Drunk Elephant Umbra (here’s an EU link – I have a travel size from their Littles kit, EU link)
